Animal
Welfare
Members of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association
believe, as do most people, that animals should be treated humanely.
The PRCA staunchly protects its animals with rules designed to insure
proper care and treatment. More than 60 rules and regulations that
govern all aspects of care, treatment, travel and competition are
a part of the PRCAs animal welfare program. A veterinarian
is required to be on-site at all PRCA rodeo performances and sections
of slack.
The PRCA publishes factual information regarding
humane treatment of rodeo livestock. In addition, the PRCA has educational
information available to schools, 4-H and FFA clubs, rodeo committees
and others interested in learning more about the PRCA and the animals involved.
Friends
of Rodeo
Friends of Rodeo is dedicated to preserve Rodeo as a major part
of our heritage, and a major part of our culture. It should be noted
that there are organized movements to put an end to Rodeo. We want
to preserve it! Our mission is to preserve, protect, and advance
Rodeo and it's participants to include cowboys, cowgirls, and the
animals they perform with. We are dedicated to protecting the animals
used in Rodeo, and to insure the cooperation of all Rodeo organizations
to prevent abuse to these animals. Learn more, visit our booth at
this year's Stampede Days Rodeo.
Run
for the Wall
Run for the Wall is an annual Veteran's pilgrimage
across the heartland of America to Washington, DC and the Vietnam
Veteran's Memorial -THE WALL. Their purpose is to create a groundswell
of support for American PRISONERS OF WAR and MISSING IN ACTION from
all wars, and to help those injured by war to heal. This 10 day,
cross-country journey will include ceremonies with veterans and
civic organizations, visits to war memorials, visits with VA hospital
patients, and other stops to make sure our POW-MIA's are remembered.
Most will be riding motorcycles, but it's not required. Last year
over 500,000 bikes participated. The Kern County Sheriff's Reserve
Association supports the efforts of Run For the Wall.
